Theatre Studies

Theatre Studies at the University of New England is very proud to present the

UNE Outdoor Shakespeare Festival

The Festival is based each year around a major production of a Shakespeare play on the idyllic lawns of Booloominbah, the grand house designed by Horbury Hunt which forms the original centre of the UNE campus, and the site of UNE’s Graduation ceremonies.

The Festival is held in March-April each year to enhance UNE Graduation. One of the aims of this festival is to provide opportunities for senior school students from around the north of New South Wales to experience Shakespeare in performance, both as audiences and actors. The Festival augments the already very successful Shakespeare events already organised by the schools in the region.

The productions are accompanied by a series of supporting events, including lectures, workshops, and other performances, some by school students from the region.

The productions are performed on the sloping lawns in front of UNE’s historic home base, the Horbury Hunt house, Booloominbah.

Costs are kept as low as possible for group bookings by schools, to enable the maximum number of high school students from the region to attend.
