If you are enrolled at another university, you can choose to study subjects at UNE that will count towards your course. Apply as a cross institutional student directly and complete one or several individual subjects (units) from the full scope of UNE's discipline areas.

Why choose Cross Institutional study with UNE?

Most units offered at UNE are available to eligible students on a cross-institutional basis. It is recommended you check unit availability and that you meet any prerequisite requirements.

To find the unit/s you want to study, you can browse the UNE catalogue or search by keyword. You'll find a unit description that provides information about when the unit is offered, the study mode it is delivered in, required background knowledge, study requirements, textbook information and whether the unit has a mandatory or non-mandatory intensive school.

Units undertaken on a Cross Institutional basis must count towards the course you are enrolled in at your home university. Most units are offered at 6 credit points, which is equivalent to 150 hours of total student workload.

Studying online

At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.

We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
