Introduction
This site provides you with information regarding the French programmes offered at UNE, including a description of individual units, of opportunities to study in France or Canada and of career prospects. Offering units in language, literature and cultural studies, the French discipline invites you to enhance your knowledge of this rich heritage.
Why Study French at UNE?
The School is the only one in Australia to offer a full programme of French by distance education as well as on-campus, from beginners' level to PhD. We offer units in language, literature and cultural studies. Most units are normally available in both distance and on campus mode, and undergraduate units are enhanced by an interactive online component. The pronunciation and phonetics unit, FREN203, is available in distance mode only. Off-campus students undertake the same units as on-campus ones, submit the same assignments and sit the same tests and examinations.
Île-de-France, Jardin
Teaching and administrative staff are highly experienced in dealing with both categories of student, and we welcome all enquiries. French may also be studied at Honours level, one year full-time or two years part-time. Supervision is also available for MPhil and PhD candidates.
UNE has exchange agreements with universities in Angers (France), Saint-Etienne (France) and Quebec City (Canada) for in-country study which can be credited to UNE degrees. The schemes are open to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Languages or the Bachelor of International and Language Studies who may spend one or two trimesters at these universities. UNE also has an exchange agreement with a graduate business school in Chambéry, France for Bachelor of Language and International Business students.
