Overview of the Bachelor of Computer Science, Web and Networks Major
The Web and Networks major includes core units on introductory programming, basic concepts of computer science and techniques for software development. Particular subjects covered within the major include internet security, web programming, computer networks and advanced web technologies. A number of electives can be chosen from computer science subjects or other subjects offered by the University. This major is designed for students who have a particular interest in network technology and web-based systems.
Duration and Prerequisites
This is a three year full-time degree. Assumed knowledge is Mathematics at NSW HSC level, or equivalent. For students without the recommended background knowledge, UNE offers a Foundation unit in Mathematics. Students are also able to articulate into the Bachelor of Computer Science on completion of the NSW TAFE Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent which counts for three semesters of full-time study.

The Bachelor of Computer Science has been granted Level A accreditation by the Computer Society of Australia. Commencement is possible in either first or second semester. Study can be taken either full-time or part-time and either on campus or fully online.
