Course Rule Changes for 2008

Over the last 18 months UNE has conducted a process of Academic Renewal to simplify course rules and structures.  As part of this initiative, a number of UNE courses have been reviewed to introduce commonality across programs whilst retaining a diversity of offerings.  The changes will make it easier for students to plan their program of study and enable them to change courses, should they wish, with a minimum loss of time.

A full list of those courses that have undergone academic renewal can be found at http://www.une.edu.au/for/future-students/newcourses.php#item1.  Students in these courses are encouraged to review both the 2007 and 2008 rule versions (found at http://www.une.edu.au/courses/) to ascertain which set of rules best fits their individual situation.

The decision to remain under the current rules of your course or to change to the new course rules will, in part, be determined by how far you have progressed in your degree.  Students who are nearing the completion of their course would be expected to remain under existing rules, while those who are in the early stages of their degree may decide to transfer.

Please note:  you must consider carefully how you intend to proceed.  Once you elect to transfer to the 2008 rules you will not be able to revert to the pre-2008 rules. You should also be aware that if you take a break in your studies at any time in the future you will resume your studies under the rules in place at the time of your resumption of candidature.

How to Transfer
Once you have reviewed the course offerings and decided which is the best option, you can commence online enrolment for 2008.  As you progress through the enrolment steps you will reach the Student Course Attempt Maintenance form (Course step).  You will see a text box in the top right hand corner that provides information regarding the Course changes.  If you decide to transfer to the new rules, simply click on the link provided, complete and submit this online form and then return to online enrolment to enrol for 2008, you should enrol for units appropriate to the new course rules you will be under for 2008.

Enrolment staff at UNE will then adjust your enrolment to reflect the change/s you have requested.  Please be sure to monitor your UNE e-mail account in case the University needs to contact you regarding your choice.

It is expected that students will decide for themselves, after reviewing the relevant course material, whether or not to transfer.  If you need advice or assistance about these changes, please e-mail enrolments@une.edu.au with your questions.

Not Transferring?
If you are remaining under your existing course rules simply continue through the online enrolment steps and enrol in units appropriate to your current course rules.
