Earthquake and Flood Information for Students

UNE understands that there are students who are affected by the earthquake in Japan and Christchurch and the floods in Queensland and Northern New South Wales and want to assure you that we will provide assistance to relieve the stress that this may place on your ability to study.

Students who are affected may include those in the following categories. Please click on the link for further information.

Special examinations from Semester 2, 2010

Examination centres throughout the affected areas. 

Students who have a special examination will be able to defer their exam until the next examination period.  Examinations commence on the 22nd June 2011

If your preparation for the exams has been affected, please advise our staff to identify options for special examinations.

 

Special Extensions of Time (assignments) from Semester 2, 2010

All students who have been granted a SET until 31/1/2011 will be granted an extension until 31/3/2011.

Any student with an outstanding assignment due will be granted a SET until 31/3/2011. Students will need to put a case in writing with supporting documentation.

Mandatory Intensive Schools

Students have been scheduled to commence mandatory intensive schools from Thursday 20th January.  If you are affected and will have difficulty attending please contact the Student Centre on 6773 4444. Options will be considered on a unit by unit basis.

 

Students relying on completion of last units for March/April graduation

This will include students studying over Summer Semester or completing Special Exams or Special Extensions of Time from Semester 2, 2010, who would have been eligible to graduate in March/April 2011 following successful completion of these studies.

Graduate School of Business (GSB) (students commencing in Trimester 1, 2011)

If you have enrolled and the earthquake or floods have affected your ability to meet the study requirements of Trimester 1, please contact GSB on 02 6773 3382 to consider options eg deferral, intermission or extensions on assignments.

If you have a Special Extension of Time for a Trimester 3 assignment and are not able to meet it please contact the GSB on  02 6773 3382.

 

Higher Degree Research Students

Higher Degree Research students whose ability to progress is affected by flooding will be supported with suspensions or extensions of time as required. Please contact hdr@une.edu.au or telephone (02) 6773 3715

Higher Degree Research students undertaking a coursework component of HDR awards and with special extensions of time or having to complete special exams please email hdr@une.edu.au or telephone (02) 6773 3715

 If you experience difficulty in returning borrowed items, please contact the Library on offcamp@une.edu.au  or 02 67732458 at your earliest convenience.
