How to Print a Banner Screen
from an ICA Client connection
to your printer on a Windows PC.
You may
have discovered or been shown in training that you can print the current screen
by clicking on the printer button
in the banner system.
Sometimes
this may not work as you would like or it may be quite slow.
A better
method is to “grab” the current banner window and paste it into Word or some
other program (I like WordPad in Windows 95/98/NT) and then print it just as
you would normally from that program.
Follow
these steps:
1. Start
Banner and select the screen and information that you want printed.
2. Click on
the Title Bar for UNE Banner Production System (The Blue Bar with that label).
This becomes the active window.

3. Hold the
Alt key down and then press the PrtSc key (usually located in the top right
cluster of keys). This ‘grabs’ the active window and puts it the clipboard. You
will not be able to see anything happen until you paste it somewhere.
4. Open
Word or your preferred program and then use Edit | Paste or Ctrl + V to paste
it in to the document.
Suggestion… try pasting the clipboard into MS
Paint which comes with Windows 95/98/NT
(Start | Programs | Accessories | Paint). From here you can cut just the
piece of information you want and paste it into the final document. This can
significantly reduce the size of the document and the time that it takes to
print.
5. You can
repeatedly cut and paste different Banner windows into the same Word document,
rearrange them and then print the document to your own printer as you would any
other document.
Remember: You probably don’t have to save the
Document once you have printed it… these can be quite large. This is also true
if you have used Paint… you don’t need to save the picture.
