Sascha Morrell studied Arts and Law at the University of Sydney and completed her PhD in English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge. She has taught at the University of Cambridge, the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. Dr Morrell is presently publishing in the areas of nineteenth and early-twentieth century American literature, and Irish modernism. Her ongoing research investigates dialectical conceptions of race, class and colonial dependency appearing in British, American and Australian literature, with a particular interest in the symbolic function of the Caribbean in U.S. literature. Her broader research interests include narrative theory, postcolonial and Marxist cultural theory, the Victorian novel and 'historiographical' literature. Prior to her appointment at UNE, Dr Morrell was adjunct lecturer at the Centre for Modernism Studies Australia.
