Bob is a member of the Adult and Workplace Education group withn the School of Education.

Areas of Teaching

I am supervising Masters research and PhD students in adult
education and peace studies, and teaching in the following adult
education units in our Bachelors, Graduate Certificate and Masters
programs:

  • PDLD 381 Context of Workplace Education and Training;
  • PDLD 470 Introduction to Adult Education and Training;
  • PDLD 450 Introduction to Workplace Education and Training;
  • PDLD 475 Professional Project in Adult Education and Training;
  • PDLD 476 Fields of Practice in Adult Education and Training;

Other topics and programs of study can be arranged by negotiation.

Current Research

  • Mid-term Review of Australia's National Strategy for Vocational education and training for indigenous Peoples (as part of a consortium led by he National Centre for Vocational Education Research)
  • A 'revisionist' history of Australian adult and workplace education
  • The political economy of secondary and post-compulsory Indigenous education in the NT
  • The role of popular education and capacity building in health development

Other Achievements

  • Co-author Australians for Reconciliation Learning Circles Kit (1st edition)
  • Commissioned evaluations of agencies and programs in Indigenous health and education including of Central
  • Australian Remote Health Training Unit and Secondary Indigenous Education Provision in Alice Springs; and
  • Curriculum development and policy advocacy work for Aboriginal community-controlled adult education provider

Personal Approach

In terms of adult education theory and practice, I locate myself in the critical tradition of popular education, seeking to work in and with organised social movements for peace, justice and equality.
