Paul came to the School of Law from practice, and currently teaches in Equity and Trusts, and Succession Law. In practice he specialized in criminal law, and his main areas of research include evidence law and its application in the criminal and civil processes. At present he is researching into the Right of Silence in NSW, and the potential impacts that the proposed changes currently being debated to the law in NSW will have on an accused in NSW. In particular, he is researching the availability the decision of the High Court of Australia in the 1992 matter of R v Weissensteiner, post the NSW decision in R V Lane. In 2012 he was a contributing edir to the 4th edition of Eburn and Hayes Criminal Law and Procedure in NSW, NSW, 4th edition (in publication).
Paul is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and President of the Senior Common Room of Drummond & Smith College. He continues to practice and provides pro-bono advice to the local North and North West Community Legal Centre.

Consultancy

Became fellow and member of Senior Common room at Drummond and Smith college. Attended various functions there and several academic mentoring programmes assisting students with Legal Studies.

Prior to coming to UNE I Practiced predominantly in criminal and civil litigation. Currently teach Equity and Property law, and have a special interest in advocacy and the laws of Evidence and when not at UNE can be found riding my BMW motorcycle!
