Research interests
Completed his Ph.D at the Australian National University, has carried out research into the evolution and geographic variation of people in the Australian and Asian regions. His main interests are in human evolution and variation and the origin and dispersion of modern humans in Asia. His research during the last few years has centred on human remains from China, Japan and Indonesia. He was responsible for describing the fossil remains of Homofloresiensis, nicknamed 'the hobbit'.
