Research interests

My research focuses on positive psychology constructs such as emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and beneficial effects resulting from expressive writing. With regard to emotional intelligence, I am interested in exploring the ways in which high emotional intelligence may lead to positive outcomes and approaches to increasing emotional intelligence. The study of self-efficacy provides a promising avenue for facilitating beneficial outcomes in a variety of behavioural realms. The expressive writing paradigm has been shown to be a vehicle for facilitating a number of positive outcomes, and I am interested in research examining the mechanisms that account for the effectiveness of expressive writing and exploring new applications of the writing paradigm.
