Research interests
My research interests lie in organisational psychology (especially in the dark side of human behaviours in organisations), cross cultural management and health psychology. In today’s global world, employees around the world are increasingly exposed to diverse and complex work settings (e.g., multicultural workgroups, skill shortages, ageing work force & unemployment) which may lead to deviant workplace behaviours. There is also more uncertainty and a feeling that the world is somehow less safe than it ever has been with threats of global terrorism, fuel shortages, pollutions and global recession. As a result, the issue of boundaries has become an important issue for many organizations, managers and employees. My research program seeks to investigate the explanatory mechanism underlying workplace boundary and workplace bullying and how workplace processes (e.g., communication, cooperation, trust, workplace resilience etc) can contribute to organisational effectiveness. At a more micro level, I am particularly interested in investigating the dark side of human behaviours in organisations (e.g., workplace bullying, workplace incivility, & rumours mongering etc). For example, what is workplace bullying? What is the difference between workplace bullying and workplace incivility? Is the boss always the bully? My research involves identifying key antecedents and consequences underlying workplace bullying and workplace incivility (e.g., stress, psychological well-being, anger, frustration).
