Muayyad is an Associate Professor in the School of Business, Economics and Public Policy. He has been with the School since 1993. In 2001, he returned to UNE after spending four years as a Visiting Academic in the People's Republic of China. Prior to joining the University of New England, he held teaching positions in the University of Wollongong and Manchester Business School.
His work has focused on management education, cross-cultural management and the management of organizational change. He has consulted on organisational design and the management of organisational change with several international organizations including Amersham International, Pfizer, and ICI Pharmaceuticals.
Research interests
Muayyad's current research is in narrative and dialogic approaches in change management, including the social construction of change and innovation. His work on the development of inventories for the measurement of managerial problem-solving styles ( Journal of Educational and Psychological Measurement , 52, 975-983) has been translated into Japanese, German, and Spanish. His research work has received the best paper award at the Academy of Management Meeting .
Muayyad's recent research output has appeared in leading international journals in management, including:
