Current Research

He is currently enrolled in a PhD at  the University of Western Sydney. The title of the Thesis is  'Utilising Taxation Incentives to Promote Private Sector Funded Conservation'. Environmental taxation reform is an important impetus towards sustainability. However, Australian governments have demonstrated a limited appetite to adopt many reforms that ‘green taxation’ advocates would wish, such as shifting from taxes on employment to taxes on energy use. It is suggested that a politically modest tax reform model has a better chance of adoption than more radical changes.  The thesis will focus first upon the creation of a pragmatic business model for conservation. The thesis will then identify minimal taxation changes that could have a high impact in bringing this business model to life. The approach demonstrates that small taxation changes have the potential to create significant on-ground impacts provided that they are embedded within a transacting-efficient business model.
