Kiyo Fujimori received a PhD in polymer chemistry after an undergraduate study in applied chemistry. Kiyo came to University of New England as a Teaching Fellow. He participates in undergraduate teaching and research in polymer chemistry.

Research interests

Kiyo's research group has been involved in studying the following two areas:

  • free radical copolymerisation
  • functions of synthetic polymers

The study of free radical copolymerisation includes quantitative determination of microstructure of copolymers and examination of copolymerisation mechanism. Of particular interest is in the area of alternating copolymers and alternating copolymerisation. Some studies on polymer-metal ion complexion, catalyses by functional polymers and the daughter-parent relations in matrix polymerisation have been carried out. Polymers of targeted chemical functions are designed and the physico-chemical functions of these tailored polymers are studied.
