Dr Fleming is a science teacher educator who has motivated teachers and student teachers in ways to enthuse their own students through science education strategies.  Dr Fleming’s constructivist approach is published in his article, Fleming, K and Panizzon, D, ‘Facilitating Student’s Ownership of Learning in Science by Developing Lifelong Learning Skills’, Teaching Science, 56 (3), 2010.  

Dr Fleming is continuing to apply this model to assist teachers and student teachers in ways to apply constructivist strategies which empower them to help their own students develop life-long learning skills.

Dr Fleming has received the University’s VC Award for Learning and Teaching for his work with students in the University of New England.

Dr Fleming has also received the NSW Water Safety Award and the Sutherland Award for his outstanding work in swimming education, nationally.  Dr Fleming is an experienced swimming teacher and coach, working with both trainee instructors and swimmers.  He is updating his series of DVDs which focus on contemporary approaches to Swimming Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke.  The DVDs form a cornerstone for his work with coaches and teachers by facilitating strategies for developing efficient stroke techniques for their own swimmers.
