Julie has recently joined the staff at UNE from Trinity College in Dublin where she taught Shakespeare, Irish Theatre and subjects in Performance. She has a PhD from Trinity College, a MA from University College Dublin and a BA (Hons) from QUT. Previous to her academic career Julie was a professional actor and theatre-maker performing with, amongst others, Bell Shakespeare, the Queensland State Theatre Company and the Riverina Theatre Company.

Her current research project is Wide Open: The Landscape of Contemporary Australian Political Theatre.
