Joe has a range of research interests related to coach learning and behaviour. In particular he is interested in:
- Motivation within the framework of self-determination theory (SDT)
- Autonomy-supportive learning environments;
- Creating positive motivational climates with teams
- Understanding and developing coaches' work
- How high performance coaches learn
- Developing coaching practice.
