I was employed at Queensland University in the Department of Veterinary Anatomy as an Animal House manager for 10 years from 1977 to 1988. I was responsible for maintaining the health and breeding programs for colonies of laboratory mice, rabbits, native mice, koalas, bandicoots and laboratory rats.
In my previous employment at Queensland University I was also responsible for running the Animal Research Laboratory's animal surgery where I gained experience using the departments anesthetic machine to sedate animals for surgery as well as daily running and setting up of the surgery.
I am employed at UNE since 1997 to maintain a successful breeding colony of laboratory mice.
