Introduction:
After 14 years working in the Hospitality and Wholesale Nursery industries I found my way to UNE as both a student and an employee. I commenced employment at UNE in 2003 as a Laboratory Assistant in the Botany Department. My main duties involved providing technical support for undergraduate teaching units in Biology, Botany, and Ecology. I also aided postgraduate students and academics with their research and enjoyed my travels across the Northern Tablelands, and to areas such as the Pilliga, Mt Kaputar, Solitary Islands and the Hawkesbury River. In 2008 I gained secondment to the Ecosystem Management Department to work on a UNE research project, “Restoration Research for the Warkworth Sands Woodland”, an endangered ecological community in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Other areas of the School in which I have been active include maintenance of the glasshouses, administrative support in the NCW Beadle Herbarium (NE), and promotional activities for the school and university.
