I entered university to become a theoretical physicist, but found I knew and understood too little mathematics. This forced me to change direction. I have studied and/or worked at universities in Australia, Hungary, Switzerland, the U.S.A. and Spain.

Research interests

My past research focused on the connection between non-cancellation properties and the genus of certain CW complexes. This is related to the classification of integral quadratic forms. More recently, I have started to look at applications of some ideas from algebraic topology and category theory to mathematical physics.

Teaching

The undergraduate courses I currently teach are Calculus and Algebra for first year students, Linear Algebra for second year students and Topology for third year students.
