Professor Ieva Stupans is the Professor of Pharmacy. Ieva completed her undergraduate and postgraduate education at the University of Sydney, her postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health in Washington DC, and has recently held a number of academic positions in pharmacy at the University of South Australia. At the University of South Australia she has also held the position of Dean (Teaching and Learning) in the Division of Health Sciences. She has undertaken “test tube science” in the area of drug metabolism and has received funding for this research: however more recently has worked in the area of the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has led several Australian Learning and Teaching council projects in pharmacy education, and has also been a team or reference group member of others. In 2009 she was appointed as an Australian Learning and Teaching Council Fellow. The program of activity is based around pharmacy curriculum “Supporting student transition to a futures orientated professional identity”. Ieva is leading the rollout of the new Bachelor of Pharmacy program at UNE. Graduates from the program will have a strong science foundation, balanced with the development of excellent clinical pharmacy and practice skills ready to face the challenges of the twenty first century.
