Darren Ellis has a Master of Management Studies in Leadership (UNSW) and is particularly interested in strategic management and marketing of the global airline industry. His undergraduate studies were in History, English and Geography. He has completed studies at a postgraduate level in International Relations and International Security Studies (Deakin), and has a Graduate Diploma in Education (UNE).
Darren has worked in a range of fields including three years in food manufacturing, just over one year teaching English in Japan (including business short courses), three years as a public servant in Canberra and 18 months as a secondary teacher. He has been working at UNE since 2008 as a casual marker, tutor and unit coordinator. In 2010 he completed a one year full-time contract as a lecturer in management at UNE.
Darren is currently working casually at UNE while completing a Master of Aviation Management – he is researching the impact and significance of the Gulf-based airlines Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. He hopes to start his PhD in airline management next year.
