David Briggs, BHA (NSW), MHM(Hons) (NE) FCHSE,FCHKCHSE CHE is The Editor, Asia Pacific journal of Health Management, Fellow, Life Member and  Past National President of the Australian College of Health Services (ACHSE); Founding Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Health Service executives; Senior Lecturer and coordinator, Health Management and Gerontology Programs, School of Health, Faculty of the Professions, University of New England and a Director of the North West Slopes (NSW) Division of General Practice. David was awarded the Australian College of Health Services Gold Medal in 2004 for his services to the College and the Australian Health Services.

David has had extensive senior management experience in the public health sector, which includes as a CEO of large Area Health Service, General Manager of a District Health Service, CEO of a 300 bed acute regional referral hospital, as well as extensive experience in both rural and community health services and in the accreditation of health and aged care services. His consultancy, research and publications includes work in the health sector in the Asia Pacific as well as Australia.

David has contributed to health management texts and co-edited a text on the financial management of health services and presented papers both at national and international conferences.  For his research on 'models of care in small rural communities', David was awarded a Master in Health Management Honours 1st Class and was also the recipient of the UNE Faculty medal. He has completed and submitted PhD research on the ‘Lived experience of Health Service Managers, their perceptions of the health system and their role.’ He is currently the Editor of the ACHSE Peer reviewed journal the Asia Pacific Journal of Health Management. http://www.achse.org.au

David currently coordinates and lectures in Health Management and Gerontology programs and in units dealing with health management, health information management, the financial management of health services, management issues and practices in aged, disability and community services and contemporary issues in gerontology.
