Research interests

Professor Mahinda Siriwardana is an internationally recognised researcher in economics, especially in the fields of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling, trade policy analysis and carbon tax impact modelling. Mahinda has developed several CGE models during his career and they include models for Victoria, Australia, China, and Singapore. In addition he has associated with his PhD students to develop models for Kenya, the Philippines, Indonesia, Western Samoa, Iran, Sri Lanka and Australia. Some of Mahinda’s recent work has adopted the multi-country CGE framework using the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) model. One of his PhD students has developed a global CGE model with special reference to South Asia using the GTAP modelling framework to analyse the trade policy impact in the region.
