I completed my doctorate in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Queensland before joining UNE in January 2011. I have a keen interest in high performance sport, in particular, athletic preparation of field sport athletes (rugby league development & monitoring strategies in elite Australian Football). My research has investigated the validity and reliability of GPS use in field sports and subsequently profiled the energetic demands of intermittent running patterns in elite Australian Football. With colleagues at the Queensland Academy of Sport and professional football clubs I am exploring energetic models for use in a range of sports (e.g. cycling, rugby league and rugby sevens) and investigating the potential role of exercise testing/biomarkers to aid in the assessment and management of fatigue, depression and overtraining in athletes and the general population.
