Dr Maree Puxty

Biography

Maree grew up in the Hunter valley and trained at University of Newcastle. Following graduation, she completed FRACGP and has spent the last 25 years working as a rural GP in Moree and Armidale.

Maree has an interest in Mental Health and has post graduate qualifications in Psychiatry from Monash University, and Paediatrics and Adult Health Education from Flinders University.

Maree was the inaugural Clinical Dean of the Tablelands Clinical School and was a Senior Medical Educator for GP Synergy.

She continues to be a practicing rural GP and is currently the academic lead for the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship - an innovative pilot program to attract senior medical students to rural generalist practice in the NENW to address the worsening health workforce disparity. She is based at the Tablelands Clinical School and also teaches behavioural skills to third year students and general practice to fifth years.
