Completed his Ph.D at Sydney University on the transition to the global economy in Northern Thailand and the interaction between upland and lowland groups. Current research includes settlement and palaeoenvironmental studies in northern Thailand for the later Holocene, systems of exchange and resource exploitation in central and northern Burma, and the global context of 19th Century pastoralism in western NSW. Research interests include the archaeology of the global economy and the quantitative analysis of archaeological artifacts and sediments.
