Biography
Nola is the First Year and Academic Advisor for the UNE Business School and School of Law. Nola's primary focus is to assist undergraduate students in their first year of study in these Schools and adjusting to broader university requirements. Additionally, Nola can support some students in need in later years of their student journey. Areas of assistance include discipline-specific learning and teaching, strategies for success and academic support.
Nola has extensive management and consultancy experience in both the private and public sectors in Australia and in Hong Kong, where she lived for many years. These areas include the business sector, cross-sectoral professional networks, health/community sectors and legal communities, especially working with others for whom English is not their first language. Facilitating academic support for transitioning students and international students commencing studies in the tertiary sector is a priority.
Nola has also previously been a consultant, lecturer, teacher and advisor for universities, vocational colleges and secondary schools in both Australia and Hong Kong, so is well-placed to assist students transitioning into and through university study at UNE. Nola's wide-ranging and international experience across multiple disciplines and education systems underpins her focus in this dedicated academic role.
