Academic Appeals

If you wish to get a remark, appeal a grade or an assessment on a practicum or an Honours thesis, this sets down the processes for making an appeal and escalating that appeal.

Plagiarism

This lists the rules, investigation and appeals procedures, and potential penalties for students who use other people's work in assessment tasks without proper credit for those people's work.

Advanced Standing/Credit Transfer

UNE receives a great deal of applications for advanced standing - this is our policy on UNE's grant of advanced standing either as an individual student or as another institution seeking to articulate a course with one of UNE's.  Note that this is the policy - the actual rules for advanced standing are in your faculty and/or course rules.

Grievance Mediation

If you have a grievance about how someone has behaved towards you, our Grievance Mediation process can help you have this addressed.

Staff Grievance and Dispute Settling

 UNE Ombudsman

UNE has its own Ombudsman who investigates allegations of maladministration - this gives guidance on what the Ombudsman will investigate and how you can have an investigation started.

National Tertiary Education Union

This is the national union for the Tertiary Education Sector.

Community and Public Sector Union

This Union is centred around the Public Sector and its link to the Community across Australia.

External Agencies

NSW Anti-Discrimination Board

This board promotes anti-discrimination and equal opportunity principles and policies throughout NSW.

NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption

This body investigates allegations of corruption. Other functions are to protect citizen's from corruption and ensure the correct behaviour of those in the public service.

NSW Ombudsman

The NSW Ombudsman investigates concerns relating to maladministration relating to organisations in NSW.

Federal Privacy Commissioner

This body governs and protects citizen's rights to privacy across the following sectors; Government, Business, Small Business, Health Providers and/or Activities.

Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commissioner

This is a Government body which aims to protect Human Rights and promote Equal Opportunity throughout Australia.

Administrative Appeals Tribunal

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal provides independent review of administrative decisions of both Government and some other Non-government bodies.
