ITD-Info: System Interruptions (Su, 29/4/07)

The Information Technology Directorate wishes to advise of an interruption to the following IT services.

Services include:

• Campus to Internet access will be slow
• Webmail will be unavailable
• Mail retrieval via Outlook, Eudora etc will be unavailable
• UNE Forums will be unavailable
• UNE Blogs will be unavailable

Date: Sunday the 29th of April 2007 

Time: starting 8am completed by 12 noon.

Reason:

Over the next few months ITD will be performing major upgrades on both its server rooms to increase capacity and reliability.

FMS are in the middle of supplying a completely new air conditioning system for us that will offer excellent redundancy and a much larger capacity.

Power supply upgrades are also planned for the server rooms later in the year.

The current outage is to move a lot of equipment out of old enclosures into new better ventilated enclosures that can utilise the new air condition system.

Further outages will occur throughout the year and we will keep you informed with our progress.
