Appointment of Chairs, Boards of Studies

Chairs, Board of Studies

  1. The Chairs of Boards of Studies must be Senior Lecturer or above and shall be appointed on the basis of a formal selection procedure as indicated below.
  2. A notice is to be sent to all academic staff requesting expressions of interest via letter.
  3. Expressions of interest should include information regarding the candidate’s interest in and the contribution they would make to the position.
  4. Expressions of interest should be forwarded to the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning).
  5. Expressions of interest will be considered by a Committee consisting of the Dean, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning), the Faculty Manager/Academic Coordinator and the Faculty Quality Assurance Officer.  The Faculty Administrative Assistant will act as Secretary to the Committee, if required.
  6. In arriving at a final decision, it may be necessary to interview candidates.
  7. The decision will be confirmed at Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee.
  8. The appointment shall be for two years, with an option to extend for a second term.

Course Coordinators

  1. Course Coordinators must be Senior Lecturer or above and shall be appointed on the basis of a formal selection procedure as indicated below.
  2. A notice is to be sent to all academic staff requesting expressions of interest via letter.
  3. Expressions of interest should include information regarding the candidate’s interest in and the contribution they would make to the position, and their commitment to students.
  4. Expressions of interest should be forwarded to the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning).
  5. Expressions of interest will be considered by a Committee consisting of the Dean, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning), Chair of relevant Board of Studies, the Faculty Manager/Academic Coordinator and the Faculty Quality Assurance Officer.  The Faculty Administrative Assistant will act as Secretary to the Committee, if required.
  6. The Committee’s decision will be confirmed at the relevant Board of Studies and then Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee.
  7. The appointment shall be for three years, with an option to extend for a second term.
