Sporting Scholarships

SportUNE offers a number of sporting scholarships to students who are enrolled in a course of at least two years duration at UNE. Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding ability in a particular sport, and a desire to represent the University in their sport. Recipients will be expected to become an active member of the UNE sporting club for which the award has been granted.

CLEM JONES SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP 

Number available:        Up to 3

Value:                         Up to $3,000 cash for one year.

Selection is based on: 

  • demonstrated outstanding ability in your chosen sport, with a high national ranking and representation at a national/international level
  • sound academic ability/potential

MAX SCHRODER SPORTUNE SCHOLARSHIP

Number available:        Up to 3

Value:                          $3,000 for one year

Eligibility:

  • you must be an Indigenous Australian who qualifies for admission to an undergraduate study program
  • open to students completing Year 12 in 2011 and gap year/s students
  • demonstrate sporting achievements at a high level
  • be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage

 Selection is based on:

  •  outstanding sporting ability and commitment in your chose field, excluding boxing

SPORTUNE FULL SPORTING SCHOLARSHIP

Number available:        Up to 4

Value:                          $1,200 cash for one year

Selection is based on:

  • demonstrated outstanding ability in your chose sport and representation at state/national championship level (in either age or open division)
  • sound academic ability/potential

SPORTUNE DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Number available:        Up to 5

Value:                          $500 cash for one year

Selection is based on:

  • demonstrated outstanding ability in your chose sport and achievement of least regional representation at a state championship level (in either age or open division)
  • sound academic ability/potential

SPORTUNE TRAINING SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIP

Number available:        Up to 5

Value:                          $350 in membership/facility usage at SportUNE

Selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated outstanding ability in your chose sport and achievement of at least regional representation at a state championship level (in age division)
  • Sound academic ability potential

SARAH HEAGNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Number available:        1

Value:                          $1,200 per year

Eligibility:

  •  open to all continuing students in any UNE College
  • open to students who can demonstrate high sporting achievements
  • open to students in any UNE College
  • open to administrators in sport, coaches and volunteers
  • the applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident as defined by the Commonwealth (refer to www.goingtouni.gov.au) who has applied, via UAC or QTAC, for admission to an undergraduate course at the University of New England

Selection is based on:

  • successful recipients will be selected based on their outstanding sporting ability and commitment in their chosen field
  • the applicant should provide a statement describing how they would benefit from a scholarship and how they would use the funds if successful
  • the applicant must be an active participant in sport at UNE and or the wider community
  • the applicant must be able to demonstrate a contribution to the promotion and development of Sport and recreation
