Teaching and Nursing Non School Leavers Equity Scholarship
The University of New England has established a scholarship for undergraduate students who are not entering university directly from high school and would benefit from financial support while undertaking study. The Teaching and Nursing Scholarships for Non School Leavers are open to those who will commence full-time, on or off campus studies in an undergraduate course in either Nursing or Teaching in the year following application.
This scholarship has a small number of specific criteria beyond the usual University requirements. Successful recipients will demonstrate a desire to work in regional and rural Australia after completing their degree. The applicants’ involvement and leadership in community activities will also be taken into consideration. Offers will be conditional on the applicant meeting all eligibility requirements upon enrolment (see Teaching and Nursing Equity Scholarship for Non School Leavers)

Eligibility:
- The applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident as defined by the Commonwealth (refer to www.goingtouni.gov.au) who is entering a Bachelor of Nursing degree or Bachelor of Teaching
- The applicant must be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage.
- The applicant must have a desire to work in a rural setting.
- The applicant must be over the age of 21.
Selection is based on:
- Financial need
- Demonstrated desire to work in a regional or rural area
- Involvement and leadership in community activities.
