Research Projects

Internationally recognised research projects involving staff from School of Rural Medicine and School of Health at UNE include:

  1. A four year collaboration with the University in Rural Thailand (Naresuan University) in health service management and medical education has resulted in the establishment of the National Centre of Expertise on Hospital and Health Service Management at Naresuan University.  UNE is a key partner in this project, which is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO).  (http://www.une.edu.au/news/archives/000915.html)
  2. Professor John Fraser has developed an education model to increase public health capacity of rural health professionals.  This innovative educational model was recently recognized by publication in a special issue of Education for Health, the WHO affiliated journal on the integration of public health with clinical medicine.  (Education for Health 7 (online), 2007: 50.
