The University of New England (UNE) is an international university located in a rural setting. The School of Rural Medicine, UNE is part of the Joint Medical Program with the University of Newcastle. The JMP mission is to train medical students to be excellent clinicians, who are able to practice medicine with confidence in either a rural or urban setting.

The 2012 UNE Psychiatry Symposium will be the first in a series of seminars in Psychiatry. The series will run over a two year period bringing together leading clinicians to this interactive meeting which will include several distinguished speakers, delivering lectures covering the key aspects of basic science and clinical practice in neuropsychiatry.
