College Life

JCR TV

At Robb College we believe it is important to have a good balance between personal, intellectual, cultural and social development. It is through everyday College life that our residents truly develop.

There are a number of opportunities to participate, with many sporting, social and cultural events on the calendar. All this aligns with our College motto of "Fellowship in Learning". College members quickly become part of the College community and make long lasting friendships.

Personal Support

Resident Tutors are College leaders and an essential part of the life of the College. Along with direction from the Senior Resident Tutor and Deputy Senior Resident Tutor, they assist the Head of College to establish and maintain an environment conducive to academic achievement and to the personal, intellectual and social development of every College member.

Resident Tutors live in the College with the students and are required to provide pastoral and academic support, to undertake leadership and community responsibilities, and to help with administrative tasks. They are there to help students at any time, and to build a sense of community and ethos at the College.

Academic Support

Academic assistance programs are held throughout the year, both formally (in academic workshops or tutorials) and informally. It is important to seek academic advice as soon as there is a need. Someone in or associated with the College will be able to help.

Resident Tutors report to the Head of College. They work together to enhance the generic academic skills of students, and individually to provide discipline-specific support.

Court Mentors work under the direction of their court's Resident Tutor and provide court-based support for a range of pastoral and academic areas.

Senior Common Room members are also willing to assist with tutorials or individual academic and other assistance.

Social Life

The Junior Common Room (JCR) is elected by the residents each year to organise and manage the social, cultural and sporting activities of the College. The JCR Executive represents the student members of the College on various College administrative and disciplinary committees and provides advice to College management on issues concerning the welfare of College members.

Sport

Robb is proud to have very successful sporting teams across an array of sports such as rugby, netball and hockey. The College competes annually in the Mary Bagnall Trophy (for females) and the President's Trophy (for males). Sports are competed against other Colleges and town students and include running, swimming, athletics, rugby, hockey, soccer, cross-country, badminton, tennis, squash, water polo, ultimate frisbee, AFL, netball, canoe polo, cricket, volleyball and basketball.

Culture

Students of Robb have the opportunity to participate in a range of cultural activities. These include submissions for arts & crafts, public speaking, debating, stage performances, poetry, short story writing. Robb offers a number of prizes for contribution and excellence in College cultural activities.
