Part-time Employees
The University does not sanction the nomination of part-time employees as First-Aid Officers in that:
The employee is not available for duty during the normal course of the working day(s). |
Response time for assistance is slowed as another First-Aid Officer would need to be contacted. |
The University may allow the nomination of a part-time employee if:
The activities within the First-Aid Officers area of responsibility coincided with their work hours; |
Another employee is nominated to cover the hours in which the initial First-Aid Officer is not available: |
In this instance, the Faculty / School or Division would authorise payment of the First-Aid allowance to both employees: |
The First-Aid allowance is paid as a percentage of the hours worked by the employee. Therefore: if an employee works 30 hours a week, they will only receive that part of the allowance which compromises 30 hours out of 35 for General staff and 30 hours out of 37.5 for Academic staff. |
