Australian Research Council (ARC)

The ARC's mission is to advance Australia's research excellence to be globally competitive and deliver benefits to the community.

ARC supports the highest-quality fundamental and applied research and research training through national competition across all disciplines, with the exception of clinical medicine and dentistry.

♦ National Competitve Grants Program (NCGP) ♦

The ARC is responsible for administering the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP) which supports research across all disciplines.

The NCGP comprises two main elements - Discovery and Linkage - under which the ARC funds a range of complementary schemes to support researchers at different stages of their careers, build Australia’s research capability, expand and enhance research networks and collaborations, and develop centres of research excellence.

♦ Research Management System (RMS) Information ♦

RMS is the ARC's online application submission system.

ALL applicants named on any ARC application need an RMS ID

 

♦ New Definition of Medical and Dental Research ♦

In September 2009, the ARC clarified its definition of Medical and Dental Research, in consultation with the National Health and Medical Research Council and stakeholders. This definition retains the original definition, and clarifies and elaborates on it. This definition will apply to all new Funding Rules for ARC.
