School of Rural Medicine and School of Health

The Schools of Rural Medicine and Health are developing a joint research strategy which includes an opportunity to develop a focus of excellence in applied rural public health research. The Professor of Rural Public Health will be responsible for developing a research agenda for rural public health and for promoting and undertaking research into issues that are of relevance to rural communities, professions and industry partners across both Schools.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding scholar who will: show commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision; lead staff in innovative approaches to research, the development of research teams and obtaining external competitive research grants; and develop and enhance links between the University and the health professions at international, national, state and local levels.

The Professor of Rural Public Health will have an internationally regarded leadership record, with funded research, consultancies and refereed publications in rural public health. In addition, they will have extensive involvement with the professional community and government and non-government agencies in advancing Public Health.  Consideration may be given to filling the position on less than a full-time basis.
