Academic Fellowship in English Literacies and Language Education (Part-time, Fixed-term)

Are you currently undertaking doctoral studies at the University of New England? In addition to your study are you interested in a part-time position at Level A to undertake academic duties with preservice teacher education students? The School of Education is currently offering the following part-time (0.6FTE) fixed-term position.
The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education, research, consultancy and professional service in a wide range of discipline areas. Courses are offered both on campus and via distance education. The School provides a friendly collegial and supportive working environment.
Applicants must have formal teaching qualifications that would enable them to teach in Australian primary or secondary schools, have at least the equivalent of two years of teaching experience in schools, demonstrate capacity to teach at tertiary level, be enrolled as a full-time or part-time doctoral candidate at the University of New England with a completion date within three years of appointment, and be undertaking research on a topic approved by the School of Education in one of the following areas of primary or secondary school education: (i) Mathematics Education, (ii) English, Literacies and Language Education and (iii) Indigenous Education.
The fellowship will be for a period of three years beginning in February 2010. The successful appointee will be required to demonstrate satisfactory teaching performance and progress towards completion of their doctoral study at the end of each semester. There is the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointee will be required to teach in the area of education related to their doctoral studies and may also be required to teach in more general studies of teaching and learning for pre-service teacher education students as well as undertake supervision and/or liaison roles in the practicum.
