Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Mathematics Education

The School of Education wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Mathematics Education. The position has a focus on primary schooling, with an opportunity for some work in the secondary school mathematics education units. The appointee will work in teaching, research, supervision, consultancy and professional service.
The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education, Early Childhood Education, research, consultancy and professional service in a wide range of discipline areas. Courses are offered both on campus and via distance education. The School provides a friendly collegial and supportive working environment. The National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) is located in the School.
The successful applicant will augment the current Mathematics Education team, enhancing its expanding role in conducting significant externally funded research projects, supervising higher degree research students and contributing to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and teacher professional learning. The appointee will also teach in both undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics curriculum units in face-to-face, distance and online modes.
Essential criteria for appointment include a doctoral qualification in a relevant field of study, professional experience relevant to the education of students in primary or secondary school contexts. The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate knowledge of key research, theories, policies and practices in Mathematics Education, including current trends, challenges and reforms in the international and Australian contexts. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, applicants will also require a sound record of scholarly publication including papers in refereed journals, experience in the supervision of research higher degree students, evidence of capacity to attract external research funding, and demonstrated success in tertiary teaching.
