The Institute for Rural Futures is an independent non-profit research centre undertaking applied interdisciplinary research into the social, economic and environmental pressures of change across rural and regional Australia.
The appointee will be responsible for developing research opportunities and develop and maintain relationships with industry and other relevant organisations to promote and develop the work program of the Institute. They are also required to develop their research expertise through an involvement in all aspects of the conduct of research projects.
The appointee will have: postgraduate qualifications or substantial progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience; and related research and policy experience in regional resource economics, as well as research and policy experience in relation to climate change and adaptation. This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2011 with the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Consideration will be given to filling this position on a less than full-time basis.
