The School of Science and Technology encompasses a number of disciplines including Chemistry, Computer Science, Human Biology, Mathematics, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Pharmacy, Physics, Physiology, and Statistics. Staff in the discipline of Molecular and Cellular Biology carry out research and teach biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and molecular biology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Science, Biomedical Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Rural Science and Agriculture. These courses are offered both on campus and via distance education.
This position involves teaching biochemistry and molecular biology at the undergraduate level. Preference may be given to applicants with research experience in clinical biochemistry, medical or veterinary microbiology or virology but applicants with other suitable experience will be considered.
The successful applicant will undertake an active independent research program and, where appropriate, collaborate with other research groups. Applicants must hold a PhD in an area relevant to the position, and be able to demonstrate a record of achievement and proven ability to carry out a research program. Applicants should also be able to attract and supervise postgraduate students and to gain research funding.
