Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science/Physiology

School of Science and Technology

The School of Science and Technology encompasses a number of disciplines including Chemistry, Computer Science, Human Biology, Mathematics, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physics, Physiology, and Statistics. The newly established Sports Science, Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology bachelor degrees will be offered from Semester 1, 2010. The degrees will be offered both on campus and via distance education.  UNE will apply for accreditation for the Bachelor of Exercise Physiology course through the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science and the incumbent will be required to develop and maintain the accredited status of the course with the professional body. These new degrees are supported with new laboratories with the latest equipment, for teaching and exercise testing integrated into the already excellent facilities offered by Sport UNE (www.une.edu.au/sportune/). The combined facilities of the University of New England and Sport UNE provide a centre for sport and exercise excellence unparalleled anywhere else in regional Australia.

At the Senior Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to make a strong contribution to the ongoing development of the Sports Science/Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology programs, take a leadership role in research supervision of higher degree students, lead research focused activities, have a record of research and publications and have the capacity to attract external research funding. An ability to contribute to an interdisciplinary team approach is essential.

At the Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in the above activities but at a more formative level.

This position would ideally suit someone who wishes to retain their career focus while also having the desire for a life-style change in beautiful Armidale, New England. Armidale is surrounded by world heritage national parks, is only two hours from the mid north coast and is a unique regional centre that offers all the facilities of a much larger city. Recognised as a centre for culture, Armidale is well served for art, music, theatre and public and private education.  http://www.armidaletourism.com.au/
