The
School of Education wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Mathematics
Education for a fixed-term until 31 December 2010. The position has a
focus on primary schooling, with an opportunity for some work in the
secondary school mathematics education units. The appointee will work
in teaching, research, consultancy and professional service. The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education, research and consultancy. The National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) and the Centre for Research in English & Multiliteracies Education (CRÈME) are located in the School. The School provides a friendly, collegial and supportive working environment. The successful applicant
will be expected to (i) contribute to course design and unit
development; (ii) have a record of successful teaching of mathematics
at primary or secondary level; (iii) contribute to the supervision and
coursework of postgraduate students; and, (iv) demonstrate knowledge of
key research, theories, policies and practices in mathematics
education. The appointee must teach in both undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics curriculum units in face-to-face, distance and online modes. There is the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
