UNE Residential System
The UNE Residential System is an important and distinctive feature of the University of New England and is central to the university experience of the majority of on-campus students. The UNE Residential System consists of seven residences, comprising colleges and an apartment village, which provide a range of living arrangements for students. The Head is to develop and manage the pastoral and academic support services to ensure the provision of a safe, academically oriented, and supportive educational and social environment. The position involves responsibility for providing 24 hour support for the residents and as such will require flexible hours. Applicants must have excellent leadership skills; strategic, goal setting, administrative and management by objective experience; an understanding of academic and personal development needs of tertiary students; superior interpersonal, negotiation, mediation and liaison skills; and the ability to deal effectively with young adults and other demographic groups with the ability to maintain discipline and good order within a residential system. This is a fixed term position available until 15 June 2012, with the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. This position would ideally suit someone who wishes to retain their career focus while also having the desire for a life-style change in beautiful Armidale, New England. Armidale is surrounded by world heritage national parks, is only 2 hours from the mid north coast and is a unique country town that offers all the facilities of a city.
