Associate Professor (General Practice) (Part-time)
School of Rural Medicine
This position represents an exciting and innovative opportunity to assist in the establishment of a national and international reputation in rural medicine through the Joint Medical Program (JMP) in partnership with the University of Newcastle and in setting the foundation for the newly established School of Rural Medicine at the University of New England. The position is part-time (0.6). Last year the School of Rural Medicine had an initial intake of 60 students with a further intake of 60 students this year. The JMP is underpinned by problem based learning (PBL) with early clinical exposure and substantial community involvement. The medical curriculum, established by the University of Newcastle is widely recognised. This exciting new joint project will involve working with rural practitioners to develop innovative models for the delivery of rural medical practice, and provide national and international leadership in the delivery of rural medical, education and research. For
this position you must be registered to work as a General Practitioner;
have a recognised medical or relevant degree to the discipline of
General Practice; a higher research degree relevant to a field of
medicine or equivalent research achievement as demonstrated by a
research publication record; a demonstrated track record in teaching at
undergraduate level; a commitment to teaching and curriculum
development, including assisting and overseeing the process of GP
placements; demonstrate a solid understanding and commitment to rural
medicine; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and
