The University is seeking an outstanding scholar for this senior leadership position in the School of Education. The successful applicant will lead staff in innovative approaches to research, the development and implementation of research teams, external competitive research projects and develop and enhance links between the University and the teaching profession at international, national, state and local levels. The appointee will provide mentorship to staff and contribute to academic leadership and management through advice and assistance to the Head of School and the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty. The national research agenda in Australia for Early Childhood has a strong focus on improving early literacy and numeracy, particularly in rural and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities. UNE’s unique rural location allows staff in the Early Childhood Education program to focus on related research projects. The successful applicant will complement the current courses, research and community projects in the ECE program. This person will be expected to offer, and actively contribute to academic and professional leadership in teaching and research in his or her areas of expertise.
